I am a bed bound woman with a neurological injury, currently at significant risk of homelessness. I was evicted from a subsidised flat for my disability, and I have no options except to stay in expensive temporary accommodation.
I have a few medical appointments that I need help to pay for. I’m unable to work due to my disability and don’t have adequate family support.
- An MRI and a nerve conduction study booked for August: evidence
- A neurology consultation in September: evidence
Full outline of costs for August and September
- accommodation: ~$400/week from 1st August to 30th September, totalling $3485
- MRI and NCS: bulk billed, $0
- transport to MRI: at least $1000 [previous invoice]
- transport to NCS: at least $1000
- moving to neurologist’s suburb: >$1000
- transport to neurology consultation: >$1000
- neurology consultation minus medicare rebate: ~$200? will confirm later.
- nursing care: 2x ~$800/month [invoice]
Total needed: $9785 - I’m hoping to raise about $6000 and cover the rest through social security etc.
